New variant of Imuler trojan discovered

Intego announced the discovery of a new variant of the Imuler trojan on Friday. It is being sent to Tibetan activists via e-mail, much like other recent trojans. The details can be found on their blog, though sensitive eyes should be warned that that page contains some obfuscated profanity found in the e-mail message.

New NetWeird malware discovered

A new malware remote access kit named NetWeird has surfaced, though it is unclear whether it is actually “in the wild” yet or not. It has been written about by both Intego and Sophos, who have obtained it (from the sounds of things) from VirusTotal. Although it sounds like the current version isn’t much of a threat, it certainly could become more serious at any point.
